"Heads & Heroes" already discribes superbly the current interest of multimedia artist and painter Felix Weinold. Over the past one to two years, Felix  got more and more involved with the area of painting portraits. Portraits which are already existing as photographies are building the ground for his studyies. The face in general, as well as its shape, its way of braking the light in shadows along wrinkels and folds, and most importantly the transmitted personality and character of the „sitter“are the most relavant facturos of interest. Initially, Felix studied the oeuvre of the English photographer John Deacon (1912-1972), who used to make pictures of the models used by Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud for their works. As a result, Felix painted Bacan and Freud themselves as well as several other models of both of them. Over time Felix expanded his interest in portraits by painting a variety of other well known artists or people from the art scene such as Louise Bourgeois, Georg Baselitz, Josef Beuys, Alberto Giacometti, Michel Houellebecq, David Hockney, Gerhard Richter, or Gertude Stein. Aside from these „heroes“, Felix did several portraits of individuals from his personal surroundings. Overall, his portraits are painted in an expressive way using broad strokes of paintbrushes with a mxture of different paints at once set on the canvas or paper in an enthusiastic and fast even so confident and admirable way giving the painted face a volumenous presence in the room.

Felix Weinold, born 1960, studied art at the Academy of fine arts in Munch from 1982-1988. Over almost 30 years Felix exhibited in more than 70 solo exhibition and 100 group exhibition including museums exhibition e.g. in Haus der Kunst, Munich, Contemporary Art Museum of Augsburg, State Textile Museum, Augsburg, Kunsthalle Würth, Schwäbisch Hall, Archiologische Staatssammlung Munich, Museum Stadt Schwabmünchen, Biennale im Haus der Kunst Munich, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Oaxaca, Mexico, Märkisches Museum Berlin, among others.
